CYO Cross Country

Practices are held at the Ygnacio Valley Park and Lime Ridge Open Space.
​Our season "runs" from mid August through mid October.

​The cross country season is from August 24 to October 19. We invite all parents and children to join us.

PRACTICES

  • ​First practice from 5.30 pm - 6.30 pm on 8/24/2026 at Ygnacio Valley Park, 901 Oak Grove Rd, Concord, CA 94518.
  • Weekly practices will then be held ongoing on Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 (heat and AQI permitting).
  • Wednesday, 8/19 we will again have practice at Ygnacio Valley Park
  • Monday, 8/24 (and all Mondays following) practice will be held at Lime Ridge Open Space off of South bound Treat Blvd (see map below)
  • Wednesday 8/26 and all Wednesdays following, back at Ygnacio Valley Park
  • Monday 9/7 no practice due to Labor Day
  • Monday 10/12 no practice due to Indigenous People's Day
  • We accept children from grades K through 8. Parent participation is required for children in grades K - 2.

MEET SCHEDULE

  • Friday 9/18 — Meet #1: Location TBD (potentially Marina Park, San Leandro)
  • Friday 9/25 — Meet #2: Oak Hill Park, Danville
  • Friday 10/2 — Meet #3: Location TBD (potentially Joaquin Miller Park, Oakland)
  • Friday 10/9 — Meet #4: Oak Hill Park, Danville
  • Friday 10/16 — Diocese Championship: Location TBD

Meet times, parking details, and the two TBD locations will be confirmed as soon as the Diocese finalizes them. End of season team events (team photo, team Mass, game day, and the awards banquet) will follow the championship — dates to come.

FORMS & FEES 
  • Registration will be online this year through Backspin360.
  • This will include General participation waiver, T-Shirt Order Form. Fees are due with registration.
  • Fee $75 and to be paid online through Backspin.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Registration fees are refundable until the first day of practice. A nonrefundable fee of $40.00 per participant will be deducted from any refund issued. This fee represents costs incurred by the program in connection with registration that are not recoverable when a registration is canceled.
EVENTS 
  • K-2nd: Half Mile
  • 3rd-5th: 1 Mile
  • 6th-8th: 1 Mile
PARENTS MEETING 
  • Wednesday 9/9, 6:30, directly after practice at the park.
VOLUNTEERING 
  • Each family is asked to volunteer at a minimum of two meets over the course of the 5 meets. All volunteer duties can be trained for at the event, such as Marshaling (a great way to see your athlete on the trail and help keep the runners safe) and also clean up crew, handing out ribbons at the finish line, and the more specialized medical assistance.
  • Parents of K-2 participants must attend practices with them
  • More information to come at the parents meeting on 9/9.
